BENJAMIN
Name: Benjamin Sylvestersson
Date of birth: 16.5.2007
Nationality: Finnish
Home town: Parainen
Club: Turun UA
Started karting: 2014
Benjamin has a new generation of motorsport talent. Benjamin, a 16-year-old from Pargas, started go-karting when he was seven years old. Ever since the small classes, Benjamin has shown its momentum and years of determined work have begun to bear fruit.
In the next few years, Benjamin aims to run in the international classes of track series and mainly in international series in Central Europe. The long-term goal is to make motorsport a profession, especially in the commercial car series in Europe.
2024
Benjamin's main series will be the Italian GT4 class and his car will be a BMW M4 GT4. The aim is also to drive a few European Championship races in the GT4 class during the season. The goal is to win the Italian GT4 championship and to finish well in the European Championship races and be among the top Rookie drivers.
2023
Benjamin drove the Mini Challenge Academy series in Italy. Benjamin couldn’t participate to the first two races because of the minimum age 16. The remaining 10 races of the season went very well, resulting 10 podium finishes, including 5 wins, 4 second place finishes and one third place. In the final points of the series Benjamin finished 2nd, one point off the win, so we were very happy with the result.
2022
Benjamin drove the V1600 class in Finnish Championship series and the Baltic BaTCC championship series. The season was interrupted partly due to the car breaking down and Benjamin missed few races because of that. However, during the season we got a win and a pole position, Benjamin was the best rookie driver in the final points of the Finnish series, and 3rd in the final points of the BaTCC series.
2021
The 2021 season continued as the covid affected schedules and constraints. Benjamin drove the OKJ category in Finland for the Finnish Championship series and abroad in the Exprit factory team for the WSK races, the Champions of the Future series and the European Championship series. The pace was at a good level throughout the season, but the lack of race experience, especially in the tough international races, caused a lot of disruptions. There were successes and prize places in the Finnish Championship series, but the final points were overshadowed by technical problems. After an unfortunate season, Benjamin made the decision that karting is now finished and it’s time to move on with his career.
2020
The 2020 season was tinted with covid. The competition calendars for all series went new and the competitions could only be started in July. Benjamin's pace in the OKJ category gradually began to be found after a long break from races. Evidence of this is, for example, the time trial of the Oulu Finnish Championships. Kristian Gleisner worked as a mechanic for Benjamin. Kristian has a long karting career behind her, so the know-how is the best possible and the cooperation has already proven to be good and functional.
2019
For the 2019 season, Benjamin continued to drive the X30 Cadet category and finished nicely second in the series points. The season included race wins, pole positions and the fastest lap times. In addition, Benjamin got used to his future class, the OKJ category under the CIK / FIA, in the form of one Finnish Championship.
2016-2018
Benjamin drove his first karting series in 2016, when he placed third in the Karting Association series, Cadet category. The following year, Benjamin moved up a notch to a higher category, the Rotax Micro Max. The year 2018 was marked by technical problems with the Rotax Mini Max and X30 Cadet. The only bright spot in the broken season was the victory in the home race in Paimio in the X30 Cadet category.
